The Project

Many artistic endeavors start out as a basic idea. Simple and with out form, multiple ideas have run through my head over the years. Some have traveled down the road of creation to the point of completing. Others have started the journey only to become stranded and abandoned. Only the strong survive.

Over the last year an idea has been wondering around in my head waiting to come out. This idea has started to loose its patients with me, it wants out now. The idea has evolved and changed over the last couple of months, but the core premise is still intact.

This project is larger then anything I’ve undertaken in the past. The medium of final output will be computer-generated animation. This medium was chosen for its ability to produce the ideas required for this project.

For the past 6 years I’ve created short computer generated animation of technical subject matter for educational purposes. This background has given me direct experience and knowledge in the complete production cycle of computer generated animation. For those readers not familiar with this process, to say it’s a time consuming is an understatement.

Before I get ahead of my self and start writing about firing up computers, the idea for this project has to be completely developed. The story has to be outlined and sketches started. That is where the books pictured on the right of this page come into play.

The small sketchbook on top was given to me as a gift from a fellow artist, a bit of a motivator to get back into art outside of work. It took some time, but at long last things are starting to happen. This book will be traveling with me, ready to capture ideas before they slip out of my mind. The big “Players” burden themselves with PDAs, in the art world we start out old school.

If you would like some background in the animation process for the independent artist, check out any of the animation links on the links page of this web site. Many of the web sites listed there have a journal section outlining their projects progress.

As things progress I’ll be posting updates here, in the Art section. When the Mecca Of Speed receives a rebuild items pertaining to this project will be organized into their own section.

If you would like a clue to the subject matter for my project look at where you are, any question?
